Hello, Dalai

Sorry.

Interesting joking competition as I shared the booth after school with two students--one explained he was named after the Dalai Lama, and had met him when he was quite young in India. The other countered with "well, the Dalai Lama kissed me when I was four".

I somehow felt sooo not one of the buddhist cool kids...

thanks for the comments here and previous, b.g.--yeah, it's going not too badly, overall--just too busy like many of us I'm sure.

I realize I may have sounded like they were joking about their encounters with the D.L.--they weren't--just the competition idea was what was kind of silly.

That made me laugh. I don't feel like one of the buddhist cool kids either, it must be that you have to be born buddhist to be one of those ;)

Secrectly, I don't care for the Dalai Lama. I can't even explain why. Maybe it's all the people who gather around him "Touch me! Bless me!" in some sense- it reminds me of TV preachers who lay hands and cast out 'spirits' - on a buddhist scale. Which makes me shudder.

Any ways- sorry I don't comment much. I enjoy reading, just don't often have anything constructive to say. (Or anything important, in general I guess is the better phrase.)

Take care :)
